Margaret, who’s originally from Luton, has lived in Chester for 55 years. She‘s always had a
creative side, having previously designed bridal bouquets and window displays, but it’s only
recently, after attending an evening class, that she began to develop her painting style.
She adapted some of her paintings into greetings cards, which she gave to friends and
family, and was amazed to find that they not only kept them, but some even had them
framed! Margaret’s work tells a story, often capturing a playful, nostalgic or romantic moment in
time. She’s constantly collecting ideas, anything that sparks imagination or humour. She finds her
inspiration in the everyday; people, faces, scenes.

“It brings me great joy to sketch and paint. I often completely lose track of time.
It’s fantastic to be part of the Art Box, to be able to show my art. It means a lot to me
to know some of my paintings are hanging up in people’s houses! I hope they like my
paintings as much as I like to paint them.”
