Joyce Rowlands was a prolific watercolour artist whose love for painting began in her youth and continued throughout her life. She studied art in Headingley, Leeds, and later became a primary school teacher in Chester, where she worked until her retirement in her fifties.
After leaving teaching, Joyce became a Blue Badge guide for the city of Chester, sharing its history with visitors for over 20 years. She only stepped back from guiding to care for her husband, but continued to create art well into her 80s. She worked in watercolours and pastels, painting with quiet dedication until her passing at age 94.
Her family kindly donated some of her remaining artworks to Art Box, ensuring her creative legacy continues to inspire others.
