Art Box Gallery, nestled in the heart of Chester, UK, is a vibrant hub for local and emerging artists to showcase their talent. Since its opening in 2021 to a full house, the gallery has become a cornerstone of the artistic community, offering a welcoming space where creativity thrives and new voices are celebrated.
Art Box offers a wide range of pieces, including paintings, drawings, sculptures, photographs, and more. We are here to exhibit emerging and local artists, who can now display their collections at Art Box – providing them with an affordable and professional setting to raise their profile and sell their work.
The brainchild of local entrepreneur Richard Nieto, Art Box was established with a clear mission: to provide a platform for up and coming artists to gain visibility and recognition. This commitment to inclusivity and diversity has been a driving force behind the gallery’s growing reputation.
Initially curated by the talented Liz Dunning, Art Box quickly gained a reputation for its eclectic exhibitions and supportive atmosphere. Dunning’s keen eye for talent and her dedication to fostering a collaborative community set a high standard for the gallery’s early years. Under her guidance, Art Box hosted numerous successful exhibitions, workshops, and community events that drew art lovers from all over Chester and beyond. The gallery has had pop-up exhibitions in the Grosvenor Hotel and at the Chester Racecourse.
In 2024, Stephanie Downes took over as Gallery Manager and Curator, bringing new energy to Art Box. Stephanie, an up-and-coming art historian and curator in faer own right, is hoping to build on the gallery’s strong foundation while introducing innovative programmes and initiatives. Faer passion for supporting emerging artists and faer deep connection to the local art scene will hopefully continued to elevate Art Box’s status as a must-visit cultural destination.
Today, Art Box Gallery stands as a testament to the power of community and the importance of nurturing creative talent. We are proud to support local charities Platform For Life and The Hospice of the Good Shepherd amongst others. With a diverse range of exhibitions and events, it remains dedicated to its founding principles, providing a vibrant space where local artists can flourish and where art enthusiasts can discover the next generation of creative voices.
